Fallon Community Day will return Saturday, Aug. 8, offering free backpacks, school supplies, clothing assistance and other resources to Churchill County students and their families.
The event will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., or while supplies last, at the Rafter 3C Arena.
Now in its 15th year, the event brings together the City of Fallon, Churchill County, New Frontier Treatment Center, Central Nevada Health District and community donors to help local children begin the school year prepared.
Children must attend with a parent or guardian to receive supplies. Each student will receive a backpack and may choose school supplies needed for the classroom.
Last year, the program served 630 students. This year, organizers hope to provide supplies to 800 school-aged children.
New Frontier Treatment Center will provide a barbecue lunch for attendees. Representatives from the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office, Fallon Police Department and local first responders will also be on hand to greet families.
Central Nevada Health District will host a booth offering back-to-school vaccinations, and each child will receive a clothing voucher redeemable at Blue Sky Thrift Store for school clothing.
The event is made possible through donations from local businesses, organizations and individuals.
