Richard Carl Bachle

July 16, 1931 - May 18, 2026
Richard Carl Bachle

It is with great sadness to report that Richard Carl Bachle, 94, of Reno, Nevada, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 18, 2026. He was surrounded by his adoring family, just two months shy of his 95th birthday… was still young at heart, with a twinkle in his eye and that famous sense of humor he was known for.

Rich was born on July 16, 1931, in Red Cloud, Nebraska, to Carl and Elsie Bachle. In 1947, the family moved to Selma, California, where Rich completed his schooling and met the love of his life, Glora June Willis. The two were married on August 5, 1951, and together built a loving home while raising their three daughters in the Clovis area.

Richard worked as a professional gas welder, a trade that took him throughout the San Joaquin Valley. In 1968, he moved his family to Winnemucca, Nevada, where he began a long career with Southwest Gas. He remained with the company until his retirement in 1986. His expert welding skills were highly sought after, and he continued to work for the Union, Local 246, for many more years.

Rich was good at everything he did, and his interests were many and varied. He was a proud member of the Masons for decades. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, and collecting guns, but above all, he cherished spending time with his family and his faithful best friend, Maks, his beloved German Shepherd. He was an expert trap shooter, winning the coveted Dan Orlich medallion. He also rode and trained horses and loved working with, and just being around, dogs. Rich and Glora had a long, wonderful life together. They always had a happy home and enjoyed traveling to the coast, camping, and visiting friends and family.

Everyone who knew Rich knew they had a loyal and lifelong friend. He was a mentor to many, someone people admired and looked up to throughout his life. Rich had a gift for conversation and storytelling, and he would want to be remembered for his warm personality, quick wit, and charm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Elsie Bachle; Chet Sunderland, stepfather; his wife, Glora; his daughter, Cheryl “Cheri” Machado; and his sister, Joann Schuil.

Rich is survived by his daughters, Krissy Bachle and Rikki Bachle; five grandchildren, Kara White-Schene (Eric), Richard Machado, Joseph Machado (Cyndy), Branon White (Jessica), and Christopher McEachern; ten great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

One day at a time, Rich built a life worth living and a legacy that will live on in every life he touched.

A memorial Celebration of Life will be held on July 18 at 11 a.m. at the Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church in Reno. A gathering to share memories and celebrate Rich’s life will follow at 1 p.m. at Cook’d in Reno.

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
