Connie (Constance) Maffi

March 22, 1954 - May 5, 2026
Connie (Constance) Maffi

Connie (Constance) Maffi was born on March 22, 1954 to Stephen and Marylou Maffi.

It was a struggle for her to enter into this world, which left her with some lifelong challenges. Though faced with developmental delays, Connie lived a life that taught everyone around her the true meaning of happiness, resilience and compassion.

She and her two older siblings, Martin and Arlyn Maffi, grew up in Fallon with their parents. They enjoyed living in town and on a ranch. Later, Connie became a big sister when her younger sister, Lynn Maffi Strasdin, was born. Connie was close to her parents and siblings and also had an extended family (the Deals and the Scholzs) that she was very involved with throughout her life. Her love, humor, and spunk will be forever cherished by her family.

Connie was a people person and seemed to make connections wherever she went. She made many life long friends over the years in Fallon. Her life was blessed by these special relationships and bonds.

Connie found happiness in the simple things - taking care of her pet cats, making cards, crafting, decorating her room, spending time with family, listening to music, watching movies and TV (The Partridge Family) and traveling.

Connie happily lived with her parents most of her life. In later years, she moved into a SLA group home and absolutely thrived, enjoying many new relationships and gaining many skills.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff at her group home and to the many wonderful people in the Fallon community that have friended her throughout her entire life.

She passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, with a loving group surrounding her.

She will be greatly missed but what a joy she brings to life on the other side.

She is survived by her sister Arlyn Maffi, sister Lynn Maffi Strasdin (David), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Marylou Maffi and her brother Martin Maffi (Linda).

A rosary service will be held on Thursday evening May 14th at 7:00 PM at The Smith Family Funeral Home in Fallon. A funeral mass will be held on May 15th at 11:00 AM at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Fallon, with a graveside service immediately following.

The family invites everyone to a luncheon reception after, in the parish hall at St Patricks.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to FAWG, CAPS or Special Olympics to honor her memory.

The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses. Her dad Ted was my dad's brother. I never knew Ted or Betty, but I wish I did. I am 73 and live in IL. I am building my family tree and see where Betty has fit in. Blessings to you Curt and family.
