Camp Counselor (part-time)

Position Summary: Do you like working with children and have experience working with them? Do you enjoy helping children complete homework and learn? Working as a Camp Counselor for Churchill County Parks and Recreation's after-school program (CARE) might be just right for you! You would help plan activities for the program and then supervise the children who are participating in the program. You would spend time at the indoor pool, helping with homework, teaching and leading the children in arts and crafts, and leading them in sports and other activities. You would be responsible for maintaining an orderly atmosphere, using positive discipline techniques in dealing with elementary school age children, and working with children and parents on a regular basis. The right candidate will be available to work part-time year-round in the after-school program, during the semester break's "Winter Fun" program, and, ideally, for the SumFun summer day camp. Essential Functions: This job description indicates, in general, the nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities and other essential functions (as covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act) expected of the incumbent. It is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required of the incumbent. Incumbent may be asked to perform other duties as required. -- Demonstrates regular, reliable and punctual attendance. -- Sets up activities and cleans up after each event; prepares supplies and materials for each session/day. -- Leads recreational activities for participants; instructs participants to aid their understanding of the activities; addresses concerns of participants and members of the public; deals effectively with the public on a regular basis. -- Performs routine maintenance and custodial functions; maintains facilities and equipment in a neat and orderly condition; keeps rooms, closets, games and equipment organized daily. -- Maintains an orderly atmosphere among the participants in the program; uses positive discipline techniques and a consistent award system when working with participants. -- Attends meetings and training sessions as required; demonstrates support towards the Parks and Recreation Department. They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all.
