The Churchill County School District Board of Trustees approved academic calendars for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 school years, giving families time to plan ahead.
The 2026–27 calendar has received board approval and is pending final approval from the state. The 2027–28 calendar has also been approved by the board and will be submitted for state review next year.
Both calendars follow the district’s modified four-day instructional calendar, which ChurchillCSD first adopted during the 2022-23 school year. Under this model, students in grades 1-12 will have 11 Fridays off throughout the school year. These Fridays off do not occur every week. The modified schedule begins in September and follows an every-other-Friday pattern through May. During the final three weeks of the school year, students will attend school five days a week with no Friday off. Kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students are an exception, as they follow a consistent four-day week every week.
“The modified calendar gives families greater predictability while still meeting all instructional requirements set by the state,” Superintendent Derild Parsons said. “By approving calendars two years in advance, we are giving parents, staff, and the community more time to plan.”
District officials noted that both calendars remain subject to state approval and could be adjusted if changes are required. Updated information will be shared if revisions are made.
