Churchill County School District, along with neighboring school districts, received an email containing a generic threat referencing a possible bomb threat directed toward the exterior of high school campuses on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 21. Law enforcement was contacted immediately to investigate the situation.

According to an update from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the reported threats made to northern Nevada schools were determined to be a hoax. The determination was confirmed through information shared by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Churchill County High School was among the campuses impacted by the reported threat.

At this time, authorities have determined there is no credible threat. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported that extensive checks were conducted in response to the threat and no suspicious activity was found. Investigators continue efforts to identify the origin of the threats.

Out of an abundance of caution, increased security measures were implemented at Churchill County High School. District officials emphasized that threats of this nature are never dismissed and that established safety protocols are followed in every instance.

The safety of students and staff remains the district’s highest priority, and officials continue to work closely with law enforcement to ensure campuses remain safe and secure. The district expressed appreciation for the cooperation and understanding of families and staff as it remains vigilant and committed to maintaining a safe learning environment.

Who and what they REALLY were. Because they were devotional and IMPORTANT to the humans they connected with. The content of their life bled so that others could feel their own life’s importance. Teachers of justifiable life and art. That all can absorb and use as the best fertilizer for THEIR lives. Giving the silent secrets and the loud guidance. The Melon Man was a perfect specimen for how to devote. His passing meant a life book of feeling/knowing what gives other humans their paths to Love and Knowledge. Some humans are meant to show others their paths. And in that they secrete ways to profitably exist.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 4:50 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon Man
