As December arrives, Veritas Preparatory School begins its annual celebration of Advent, a cherished season of preparation, reflection, and joyful anticipation. Advent is the time of year that invites students and families to pause amid the busyness of the season and turn their hearts toward the coming of Christ.
Throughout the month of December, the school participates in a variety of activities that celebrate the Advent season. On Tuesday, December 9, Veritas will host its annual Advent Night celebration. Each grade level is diligently preparing a presentation for families and fellow students, with each one highlighting a different aspect of the Advent story. On Monday, December 15, students are invited to an Advent breakfast to begin a week of daily chapels that focus on the birth of Christ and the miraculous events at the heart of Advent. The week will conclude with a Christmas carol sing-along for parents and students to enjoy together.
While the Advent season often comes with excitement - Christmas singing, decorations, and special programs - Veritas emphasizes the spiritual heartbeat behind the celebration. Families at Veritas are encouraged to continue Advent traditions at home, using Scripture readings, advent calendars, music, and prayer to draw closer together as they prepare for Christmas.
With hearts turned toward the manger and eyes lifted toward the promise of Christ’s return, the Veritas community steps into this season with gratitude, peace, and joyful expectation.
