The crisp autumn air and bright orange pumpkins set the perfect backdrop as Veritas Preparatory School’s Kindergarten 5 class took a field trip to Lattin Farms. The annual visit to the farm has become a beloved fall tradition, giving students hands-on experience with farm life and the joys of the harvest season.
Excitement filled the air as the young students arrived at Lattin Farms, greeted by friendly staff and the sights and sounds of the countryside. The day included a trip through the corn maze, an opportunity to pet and feed animals, and other fun farm activities. Children learned about how pumpkins grow—from seed to stem—and the importance of caring for the land.
Students also explored the farm’s famous pumpkin patch, eagerly searching for just the right pumpkin to take home. “My pumpkin was the best!” said student Westin Cota, whose pumpkin was indeed a contender for the category.
Teachers tied the trip into classroom lessons about fall, plants, and God’s creation. “This is such a special way for students to see what we’ve been learning in action,” said kindergarten teacher Ms. Kelsey. “They love getting their hands in the dirt, and it helps them appreciate the beauty and rhythm of the seasons.”
Parent chaperones joined in the fun, helping students navigate the patch and participate in the activities. By the time students returned to Veritas, students were happily tired, each holding a pumpkin as a souvenir of the day. The trip was not only a celebration of autumn but also a reminder of Veritas’ commitment to joyful, hands-on learning that connects students to the world around them.
