High Desert Grange Gives Rye Patch a Helping Hand

High Desert Grange Gives Rye Patch a Helping Hand
By Suzann Gilliland Peterson -- On August 9, 10, and 11, The High Desert Grange assisted with the cleanup and improvement efforts of park rangers at Rye Patch State Park for the second year in a row.  Community involvement is one of the tenants of the National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry and The High Desert Grange embodies that in all the activities in which they participate throughout every year. Fifteen families volunteered their services at Rye Patch to cut and pull out 25 Russian Olive trees to make a larger beach area for greater swimming access, rake and pull weeds, clear the camp ground area, pour cement and cement cables to eight new picnic tables, and mow lawns. Many hands achieved success swiftly allowing lots of time for fishing, swimming, canoeing, and enjoying time together. Last year’s cleanup results have benefited many campers.  Participants this year took pride in their accomplishments.  As always, park rangers were a pleasure to work with. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
