VERITAS PREPARATORY SCHOOL
Kindergarten Saddles Up for Cowboy Day
Last Thursday, Kindergarteners at Veritas Preparatory School traded their uniforms for boots, hats, and bandanas as they celebrated the much-anticipated Cowboy Day on campus. The day gave young students a chance to step into the spirit of the Old West with food, games, and plenty of fun - all with the help of dedicated parent volunteers.
The morning began in the school’s lunch hut, where students were welcomed with a hearty cowboy breakfast. Plates were filled with flapjacks, bacon, and fruit, fueling the little cowboys and cowgirls for a busy day ahead. Parent volunteers flipped pancakes, poured juice, and served with warm smiles, making the meal a true community effort.
In the afternoon, the kindergarteners headed outside for a series of cowboy-themed field games. Students took part in stick-horse races and relay games that had them galloping, running, and cheering each other on. They were even treated to pony rides! Laughter echoed across the field as students tested their cowboy skills and encouraged their classmates.
Teachers and volunteers joined in the fun, creating a lively and festive atmosphere that brought the cowboy spirit to life.
While the day was filled with excitement, Cowboy Day also reflected Veritas’ commitment to joyful, hands-on learning. Beyond simply wearing boots and hats, the activities encouraged teamwork, imagination, and a love of learning through play.
“Events like Cowboy Day remind us that education is about the whole child,” said Kindergarten teacher Jessica Kelsey. “When students are laughing, exploring, and working together, they’re learning lessons of character and community that last far beyond the classroom.”
As the sun set on Cowboy Day, Veritas kindergarteners went home with full stomachs, tired legs, and happy hearts - proof that the Wild West is alive and well in the youngest grades.
