Pick’n & Grin’n Produce Keeps Growing With SNAP, WIC, and More Story

Pick’n & Grin’n Produce Keeps Growing With SNAP, WIC, and More Story
Pick’n & Grin’n owner, Ron Peterson, at the 2025 Cantaloupe Festival.

Ron Peterson of Pick’n & Grin’n is winding down the summer season. With the Cantaloupe Festival over and held at the Rafter 3C, he hopes next year’s will take place in the Multi-purpose Building after scheduled renovations this fall and winter, sharing the space with quilters and fair exhibits.

He has his SNAP, WIC, and coupon redemptions in place. He has taken the classes and is certified to accept SNAP. These are all out-of-pocket expenses; there is no funding available.
Ron is still moving forward with a Farmer’s Market; it takes time getting the funding in place for the building, along with costs for vendor licensing for the city, county, and state, business licenses, produce certificates, and insurance.

On Sept. 19, 2025, Ron will conduct a seminar on how to construct and maintain a greenhouse. This seminar is open to the public and will be held in the NRCS Building at the Rafter 3C complex.

Pick’n & Grin’n is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For further information, Ron Peterson can be contacted at 775-217-2418.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
