The 2025 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree will come from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada, and organizers are asking for handmade ornaments to help decorate it.
The U.S. Forest Service is requesting lightweight, durable ornaments made from natural, recyclable or repurposed materials. The goal is to send 10,000 ornaments from Nevada for the holiday tree. Suggested themes include “Home Means Nevada,” state traditions and people, iconic landscapes and special places, and Nevada’s wild plants and animals.
The Churchill County Museum has provided three ornament templates that children can color and submit. The museum will handle sending the completed ornaments to the Forest Service office.
All ornaments should be submitted no later than Sept. 15, 2025. Drop them off at any Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest office, or mail to:
