Teen drowns at Lake Lahontan

A 17-year-old who was reported missing at Lake Lahontan on Saturday was found deceased the next day.
 

The teen was previously reported missing in the channel area of Lake Lahontan on the Silver Springs side near Fisherman’s Point around 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9. Lyon County Sheriff’s Office personnel arrived in Silver Springs and confirmed the report. Deputies and Search and Rescue personnel were unable to locate the missing person immediately, and deputies remained on scene searching through the night. 

At 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, the juvenile was brought to shore where they were confirmed deceased. The sheriff’s office will not be releasing the name or further details of the juvenile out of respect for the family’s privacy.

Investigators at the scene found no indications of foul play and the death is preliminarily determined to be an accident.
