The Youth Nationals Baseball Tournament is held each year for ages 9U (nine years or younger) on through 14U. This tournament is set up for the travel ball players. If you are unfamiliar with travel ball, the player’s family pays to have the kids play in these tournaments. These players will travel within their state and to neighboring states to play baseball.
The West coast and East coast tournaments for these age groups are set up in divisions to keep the teams competitively organized. Reno hosted the tournaments at Golden Eagle Sports Park in Sparks from June 13-19.
Over the course of seven days, teams played at least six games each. The tournament began June 13, and teams were ceded according to their win or loss accumulation. The elimination games began on Wednesday with the tournament championship decided on Thursday, June 19. (results of the championship game were not available at press time)
Ten teams are entered in the tournament and travel from Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Wyoming with a total of 82 teams, all bringing players from ages 9-14 years old. Fallon Hornets 13U, will be one of the teams representing Nevada.
