Highway Patrol Reports Fatal Crash in Churchill County

On January 25,2025, at approximately 2:56 a.m., the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol responded to a report of a crash at the location of westbound IR80 near mile marker 85 in Churchill County, Nevada. 

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2019 Kenworth truck tractor with trailer was traveling westbound on Interstate Route 80 (IR80) in the number two travel lane, approaching a prior crash involving a 2019 International truck tractor with trailer. The 2019 International truck tractor with trailer was overturned with its trailer blocking the number one and two westbound travel lanes. The undercarriage of the overturned trailer was facing oncoming traffic. The 2019 Kenworth truck struck the overturned trailer. 

The driver of the 2019 Kenworth, Rahul Nogivenname, a 26 year-old male of Sacramento, California, was pronounced deceased on-scene by medical personnel. The driver of the 2019 International sustained minor injuries. 

The Nevada Highway Patrol Region Two (Northern Command) Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating this crash. 

2025 Year to date: The Nevada Highway Patrol Region Two has investigated 3 fatal crashes, resulting in 3 fatalities. 2025 fatalities data is preliminary and may change/be updated based on final investigation and coroner reports.
