Daniel Lee Munoz, 71, appeared in Reno Justice Court today, Jan. 15, on charges of Open Murder. During the Mandatory Status Conference, Munoz appeared with retained attorney Orrin Johnson, who requested a 45 day continuance to allow time to review discovery documents.

Johnson informed Judge Kendra Bertschy that the defense would likely be requesting a bail hearing to address his client’s custodial status prior to the next hearing. Munoz is currently in custody at Washoe County jail with bail of $5 million, bondable only, reduced from $10 million.

Should  Munoz post bail, he is ordered to have no contact with his minor children until a court reaches a decision regarding those issues. He must surrender his passport and consent, to GPS monitoring prior to release. Further, he may not possess any weapons or firearms.

Munoz, long time Fallon resident, is accused of killing his 40 year old wife at their Reno home, and burying her body in the yard of their Fallon residence on Rio Drive. He is next scheduled to appear March 5 at 1:30 in Reno Justice Court.

Stay posted for more information as the case develops.
