The Public — A Film directed by Emilio Estevez
On a bitter cold night a Cincinnati librarian is caught between a group of homeless people seeking shelter and a faceoff with local law enforcement and the media. This film is a spot on depiction of what it’s like to work in a public library. And it also manages to reflect the values that drive librarians in their service to the public; open access of information, patron privacy, confidentiality, and reliable sourcing of information to name a few.
The Public stars Emilio Estevez, Jena Malone, Christian Slater and Alec Baldwin. The Churchill County Library owns two copies on dvd.
Carol Lloyd is the Director of the Churchill County Library. She is happy that a movie was made about a library.

Comment text: We called the cops on this kid SEVERAL times when he was not even a teenager. The Churchill sheriff kept letting him off. I remember telling him that if he didn’t hold him accountable then, he’d wind up in prison. I was right
