Students and staff gathered in the gym on August 15 to kick off the 2024-2025 school year. The fall sports teams were announced and introduced to the school. The cheer team performed and led the school in the fight song. Perfect attendance certificates were awarded to 32 students, while 211 honor roll students, with a 3.5 GPA or higher, were recognized for their accomplishments in the Spring 2024 semester and awarded their well-deserved certificates. On August 14, the administrative team had the opportunity to welcome all the students by independent grade level to our initial assembly of the school year. This allowed us to introduce ourselves, discuss school policies and procedures, explain the academic goals for the year, share all the positivity occurring in the school, and build student relationships. Students are excited about this coming school year, and we look forward to seeing the growth and gains. Fostering environments centered around academic growth and social-emotional support is paramount to our administrative leadership priorities this year. The assembly successfully allowed the administrative team to talk about themselves, how they got into education, and what support they would provide for the staff, students, and families for the upcoming school year.

Numa

Each Numa class took a tour on the first morning of school and stopped at six different SOAR stations to review the school-wide standard operating procedures (SOPs). Then, students participated in Show Your Class Assemblies on Friday. Numa's theme this year is "Stay Classy". During the first week of school, each class worked together to decide how they planned to "Show Their Class" this year. At the assembly, each grade level showed the school their presentations. “It was a great start, and both students and staff are excited to begin our new school year,” Counselor Noreen Swenson said.

E.C. Best

Second-grade students in Kari Lister’s class have taken the first week of school to get to know one another better. On the first day of school, they all got to know each other with playdough. Students all had to make something representing things they liked or about themselves. Lister sent home a letter to families asking them to write a note to her about their child. In addition, students also got to bring a bag about themselves to school containing four to six things inside to share with their classmates to teach them a little more about who they are. “It can be scary to start a new year, but now I feel like my students are ready to tackle the new year because they are already so bonded,” Lister said.

Lahontan

On the first day of school, first-grade students in Julieann Chappell's class took a safari around the school. They were on the lookout for animals as they learned where the office, library, and bathrooms were. Chappell feels this is a fun and exciting way to remind returning students where everything is at in the school and to teach new students where everything is.

It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking. I am Kelly’s sister, Charlene B Johnson and his daughter is Trisha Benjamin. The Fallon Tribal Police acted unconscionably by not notifying the family first. This is devastating for us especially after speaking a little bit with the officer handling the report and The Chief Juarez. Who refused to give me any further details or to at least let me know the FBI was notified and that they were investigating if my brothers death was foul play or not. My understanding is the FBI is called when a body is found. Tribal Chairwoman please do the family a solid and make sure the finding of my brother was due to suspicious circumstances.Comment publication date: 3/24/26, 1:55 PMComment source: Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe Reports Death Under InvestigationComment author: Nicole GalbraithComment text: Farren - I just saw that you aren’t here with us. I am completely in shock! I met you and hung out with you so many years ago with Jer, and Eden. I honestly can’t believe you are gone…..you were a wonderful human being, with a HUGE heart and soul. Hearing this makes my heart break! You are forever in our hearts, and I can say I feel blessed that I was able to know you!
