Obituary - Ben Peck

April 17, 1943 – May 10, 2024

Ben Peck, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and brother, passed away on May 10, 2024, in Fallon, NV. He was preceded in death by his mother (Arlene Hart), father (Morris Peck), son (Cory Peck), grandson (Bryan Evans), and brother (Rick Capucci). He was born on April 17, 1943, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and was raised by Armond and Janice Capucci in Fallon, NV.

Ben’s passing has left an indelible void in the hearts of his loved ones. Ben was a man of many talents and passions. He began his career working at C&L Garage and the pipeline in Glennallen, Alaska, before settling down in Fallon, where he dedicated himself to serving the community at the Churchill County Telephone Company. After retiring in October of 1998 from his professional endeavors, Ben embraced ranching alongside his father-in-law (Marvin Weishaupt). He was an avid hunter and fisherman with an adventurous spirit that knew no bounds; Ben found solace and joy amidst nature’s beauty. Trips spent exploring alongside friends and family created unforgettable memories for him. His love for outdoor pursuits was only surpassed by his deep affection for his family and his wife of 44 years, Candy Peck.

Ben was a loving father to Cory Peck, Teri Peck, Shari Holmes, Becky Piccinini, and Elaine (Cory) Plaizier - each one holding a special place within his heart. His grandchildren Zac (Melissa) Haffner, Alex (Leslieann) Haffner, Cade Vercellotti, Cala Plaizier, Casi Plaizier, Coby Piccinini, Dax Piccinini, Bryan Evans, Dylan (Danyelle) Holmes, and Alysen Moore were blessed with countless memories filled with laughter and love. The arrival of great-grandchildren Dax, Kendyl, Landon, Harper, Izzabella, Tommy, Athena, and Amelia brought joy into Ben’s life as he watched them grow up. Siblings include Bill, Jerry, Lynette, Jackie, Linda, and nieces Rochanne Downs and Yvonne Mori.

A celebration of life service will be held at Smith’s Family Funeral Home on May 18 at 11:00 a.m., where those whose lives have been touched by this remarkable man can come together to honor him one last time. A gathering will be held at the Fallon Convention Center at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made towards any Churchill County Youth Organizations, as per your discretion.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
