The Oasis basketball team was at Lovelock on Tuesday, January 9, for a league game. There were missed layup opportunities, costly turnovers, and 3-point bombs starring as the key factors to their 46 - 67 loss to the Mustangs. Lovelock had nine 3's, 17 second shot attempts, and 10 points from our turnovers, and the Bighorns only shot 27% for the game.

Player Stats:
Fenn Mackedon: 24 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals
Austin Booker: 10 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block, 3 steals
Matthew Bird: 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals
Trevor Barrenchea: 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals
Kayden White: 2 points, 1 steal
Jason Neumann: 2 points

Oasis hosted Sierra Lutheran on Saturday, January 13, for another league game. This game was the complete opposite of how they came out to play vs. Lovelock. The Bighorns had more defensive intensity and more control with their offensive play and kept that momentum going through the entire game. Oasis turned the ball over 14 times during the game with only four turnovers in the second half to help them get their second league win of the season by a score of 45-20.

Player Stats:
Fenn Mackedon: 14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block, 2 steals
Matthew Bird: 12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, 3 steals
Austin Booker: 7 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 5 steals
Trevor Barrenchea: 6 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks, 3 steals
Kayden White: 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal
Logan Casey: 2 points, 3 rebounds

Stay tuned for the results of the January 16 game at Yerington, January 19 at Battle Mountain, and West Wendover on Saturday, January 20.

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
