Churchill County and the Independent Telecommunications Pioneer Association (ITPA) announced late last month that they have made the difficult decision to discontinue the Wishing Tree Program this year after a 25-year run in the community.
Primary reasons given for ending the youth holiday giving program are a reduction in applications and similar programs offered elsewhere in the community that made the Wishing Tree program a duplicative effort.
Churchill County and the ITPA thank the community for the generous donations over the years to ensure that youth have gifts during the holidays.
