Movies & More Sept 22-23

Movies & More Sept 22-23

Your Community-Owned & Operated Fallon Theatre

We have a great lineup of entertainment for you this weekend. On Saturday night, September 23, we bring to our historic stage the Reno-based Americana band Bourgeois Gypsies. This excellent band has been together for over 15 years, playing their awesome brand of music that makes you tap your feet, clutch your heart, and shake your head simultaneously. The concert starts at 7 p.m., and tickets are $10.

Yes, we have movies this weekend, too, and they are free. Playing both Friday, September 22 and Saturday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m., is the 2010 animated comedy “Megamind.” Though he is the most brilliant supervillain the world has known, Megamind is the least successful. Thwarted repeatedly by heroic Metro Man, Megamind is more surprised than anyone when he manages to defeat his longtime enemy. But Megamind has no purpose in life without Metro Man, so he creates a new opponent, who quickly decides that it's more fun to be a bad guy than a hero. Voices provided by Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey, and Jonah Hill.

Our second feature, playing only on Friday, September 22, at 7 p.m., is the 1940 screwball comedy “His Girl Friday.” When a hard-charging New York newspaper editor discovers that his ex-wife, an investigative reporter, has gotten engaged to a milquetoast insurance agent, he tries to lure her away from the tame domestic life with a story about the impending execution of a convicted murderer. But her reporter instincts take over when she discovers he may be innocent. Starring Cary Grant, Rosalind Russell, and Ralph Bellamy.

Mark your calendars for the last weekend of September as the “Addams Family” takes over our theatre. This is a fully immersive event. The theatre will be decorated like the Addams Family Mansion, and all the characters will be there - Morticia, Gomez, Wednesday, Pugsley, Grandmama, Uncle Fester, Lurch, Cousin Itt, and Thing. Also, souvenir cups for kids and adults, a popcorn bar, a costume contest for both evenings and more. A big “thank you” to our event sponsor, Huck Salt, for making this possible and bringing this great event to you free of charge.

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
