Staff Report

The Fallon Post and Les Schwab Presents are hosting a fundraising car show to benefit Top Gun dragstrip as it continues to repair the extensive damage to the track that occurred after torrential rains battered Top Gun racing facilities last June.

The event will also showcase a Betty Vega Family Friendly Pinup Girl Contest with Fallon’s own Betty Vega. The event is set for Sunday, September 10, at the Les Schwab Tire Center at 2555 Reno Hwy, in Fallon. Contestants will need to check in at 8 a.m. for a 9 a.m. car show kickoff time.

Top Gun’s favorite DJ, Davey Munoz, will MC the event, which will be fun for the whole family. Also participating in the event will be Dale Walker, who frequently competes on his high-speed racing motorcycles “Frankenzuki” and “Igor” at the Top Gun dragstrip. Walker is the owner of Hole Shot Performance and invites everyone to come to the show and take a closer look at his performance bikes. Both American and foreign motorcycles will be competing for prizes.

The event is also sponsored by Camacho Auto Sales, Wild West Burgers, Harley Davidson, Telegraph Coffee and Tap, Boney Welding and Fabrication, Great Basin Apothecary, Frey Ranch Distillery, Fallon Speedway, Summit Racing, the Alley Bar, Davey's American Auto Racing, Ott’s Farm Equipment, and Satathite’s Accessories and Jewels.

He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N Pflimlin
