Friday File -- Note to Readers

Friday File -- Note to Readers
The Friday File goes out to our email subscribers every Friday morning at 5:00 a.m. as a reminder of what's going on with the paper and gives a listing of the top stories from the past couple of days. Many of our readers are not on social media, so they don't get the daily reminders that those platforms allow. People have also been asking me to revive my old column from the "Fallon Star Press" days, and I think that would be really fun, but at this moment, as I work through developing a system and a schedule for posting stories, this is as close as we're going to get. It occur to me though, that only the email people get to see this, so from now on we'll post it on the website as well for everyone to see...   Friday File -- I said the Pledge of Allegiance four times yesterday. For those of you who don’t find it scintillating to sit through local government meetings, we all still say the pledge before a meeting starts. It struck me at one point this week, with a big lump in my throat, how lucky we are to live here, to be among friends, to govern ourselves, to share each other’s lives, and raise each other’s kids. We cheer when someone does something great – like Liam Few, the 6th grader who made a crazy, serious presentation to the school board Wednesday night – taking pride in him like he’s our very own. And we criticize when someone messes up or says something terribly human – silently hoping we don’t do something equally stupid. This week has been amazing. We’ve covered TCID, the City of Fallon, the high school CTE committee meeting, CEDA’s downtown revitalization meeting, the CEDA breakfast, Republican Central Committee meeting, and the school board. There wasn’t enough of us to get to the Democrats meeting, the planning commission, or meet with friends for social hour at Jo’s last night. And you may have noticed, we haven’t gotten all the stories posted – for someone whose goal is to post local, daily news, it’s killing me. I’m so far behind. We did finally get the Grange livestock show posted, and I promise the 4-H Jr. Livestock show results are coming. We’re working on all the rest and really appreciate your patience. This little experiment is four months old and I have to thank you for all your support. We got a ton of new email sign ups at the Soroptimist Home & Garden Show and more likes on our social media than we can shake a stick at. To those of you who have sent in “subscriptions” I can’t begin to thank you enough. For those of you who haven’t yet – make sure you click on the contribute button on the website or go here: https://www.thefallonpost.org/support-our-work/ to make a one-time contribution or set up a monthly deduction. Thank you - thank you for making it possible to keep delivering local news. We also want to encourage our local businesses to advertise with us and thank those of you who do. Be sure to support those who support us. Check the calendar for events as you read through the paper today – spread the word about the job board, and make sure to let people know we never charge for obituaries. Families – please send us notices so we can memorialize your loved ones and make sure friends and families know the details for the services. (Sorry, I know that’s sensitive, but it’s part of how we all love each other). Thanks again for making this little dream come true, Rach   Never miss the local news -- read more on The Fallon Post home page. If you like what we’re doing, please support our effort to provide local, independent news and contribute to The Fallon Post, your online news source for all things Fallon.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
