Obituary - Richard Armond Capucci

April 2, 1947 – January 27, 2023.
Obituary - Richard Armond Capucci
Rick Capucci

Richard Armond Capucci, age 75, of Fallon, Nevada passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2023, at the VA Sierra Nevada Hospital in Reno Nevada due to complications from a brief illness.

Rick was born April 2, 1947 in Reno, Nevada to parents Armond and Janice Capucci. He lived his entire life in Fallon on the Capucci Ranch in the Sheckler District and enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and spending time with his lifelong friends.

Rick is a 1965 graduate of Churchill County High School where he was active in sports and agriculture activities.  After graduation, Rick enlisted in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany and serviced missions in Germany and Africa during the Vietnam Conflict.

After his tour of duty, Rick returned to Fallon where he began his career with the State of Nevada Road Department retiring as the Fallon DOT Station Maintenance Supervisor after 37 years of service.  Rick didn’t know the meaning of retirement as his favorite leisure activities were cutting wood, tending to cows, driving trucks for the local dairies, hauling manure for local fields, irrigating, and cutting hay on the ranch and for the neighbors that needed a little assistance.

Rick's love was his family.  He enjoyed sitting in the front yard with the love of his life, Cathy, and admiring the fields and their plush green grass. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren, sitting in the grandstands watching the grandkids with their various sporting events, planting his garden and a bumper crop of onions, coaching his girls in softball and basketball, and meeting his friends at the auction yard to talk about the price of hay and beef.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Armond and Janice Capucci; brother, Anthony Capucci Sr., his son, Galen Sammaripa and nephew, Cory Peck.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Cathy Capucci; daughters, Rochanne Downs (Scott), Yvonne Mori (Lawerence), and Denea Moyle-Zulz (Karl), son Allen Moyle all of Fallon; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother Ben Peck, nephew Tony Capucci Jr, and many cousins and friends.

A Celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 11:00 am at The Gardens Funeral Home & Crematory with burial to follow at the Churchill County Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, any monetary donations may be sent to the Churchill County 4H, 111 Sheckler Rd, Fallon NV 89406.

The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses.
