Obituary -- Clayton Dock
Clayton Dock

Clayton Dock, 55, of Fallon, Nevada passed away with his wife by his side on October 17, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Bishop, California to Frederick and Jean Dock on July 19, 1967. From a very early age, he always wanted to operate and repair heavy equipment. Upon graduating from Bishop Union High School, he attended West Hills College, where he obtained a degree in diesel maintenance and repair. After college, he worked for the Inyo County Road Department and then as a Road Maintenance Supervisor for the Tecopa/Shoshone division. Upon moving to Fallon, he worked for C.O.D. Garage, Frehner Construction Company as a heavy-duty repairman/welder/field paver mechanic, and Road and Highway Builders as a Master Mechanic.

Clay is survived by his wife Christy, their daughters Caitlyn and Carley, his brother Fred (Suzanne) Dock, sister Cindy (David) Kear, niece Stephanie (Matt), great nephew Garrett, brother-in-law Justin Clark, extended family and many many friends and colleagues. He is preceded in death by his parents and niece Willa Dock.

“He was called home way too soon, but his love will carry on in the work that he has done.”

                                                                A MECHANIC’S PRAYER

LORD, I THANK YOU FOR THIS JOB AND THE BLESSINGS IT PROVIDES. MAY YOU WATCH OVER ME THIS DAY AND KEEP ME SAFE FROM HARM. CREATE IN ME A WILLING SPIRIT AND A HAPPY HEART. GRANT ME THE AMBITION TO WORK HARD AND GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO FINISH WHAT I HAVE STARTED. MAY MY HANDS ALWAYS BE PREPARED TO HELP ENLIGHTEN ANOTHER’S LOAD. AND FINALLY, LORD REMIND ME THAT THE QUALITY OF MY WORK IS A REFLECTION OF YOU. TO THOSE AROUND ME, AMEN.

Our family would like to send a special thank you to the EMTs, Care flight crews, staff, and Doctors in the ER Department at Banner Churchill Community Hospital, the staff, and Doctors at Renown Hospital in Reno, and Dr. Wang at Nevada ENT. You will all hold a very special place in our hearts. We are forever grateful to our employers Road and Highway Builders and the City of Fallon, along with friends and colleagues for their love and support.

A celebration of life (potluck) will be at our home in Fallon on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 11 am.

The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses.
