Octane Fest Roars Through Fallon this Weekend
Lili Henning gets in the spirit of Octane Fest -- Fallon's premier auto racing weekend with races at Rattlesnake Raceway, Top Gun Raceway, and a special separate event at the Rafter 3C - Rockabilly Riot.

Octane Fest kicks off with an action-packed lineup of events on Friday that lead into Saturday, featuring all kinds of high-powered dirt track motorsports racing.

Motorheads from all over Nevada and the west will be heading to the Oasis of Nevada for the action-packed lineup.

Starting Friday at 7 p.m. drive up to Rattlesnake Hill to experience the thrill of circle track races, timed tough trucks, trailer races, and demolition derby. On Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. the excitement continues with more circle track races followed by contact tough trucks, chain races, and a figure 8 race. Also revving their engines are top drag cars from across the west who will converge at Top Gun Dragstrip which hosts the NHRA Pacific National Open Series this weekend at the racetrack located 17 miles south of Fallon on June 10 through the 12. The Junior Drag Racing League will also race as well at the ET Summit Series.  The track opens at 7 a.m. on Friday with races scheduled over three days. In addition to the Octane Fest activities, and a perfect complement, the 12th Annual Rockabilly Riot will kick off at the Rafter 3C on Friday, June 9 with hot rods, vendors, tattoo artists, a Pin Up contest on Saturday at 7 p.m., and several live bands.

National Hot Rod Association caliber motorsports will be roaring around Fallon all weekend. Come enjoy one of Nevada’s most exciting racing events of the year.

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing.
