NHP Reports on Fatal Pedestrian Crash
A pedestrian entered the highway at roughly 5 a.m. the morning of March 9 and was fatally struck by oncoming traffic

Nevada Highway Patrol responded quickly to a fatal vehicle vs pedestrian incident on US-50 at Churchill County mile marker 18 in Fallon on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at approximately 4:58 a.m.

Troopers with the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division, responded to reports of a pedestrian jumping out into traffic on US-50 eastbound near Churchill County mile marker 18 (in the area of Gummow Dr.) in Fallon. Preliminary investigation shows that a blue 2012 Toyota Yaris was traveling eastbound on US-50, approaching Churchill County mile marker 18. A pedestrian entered the #2 travel lane and was struck by the Yaris.

The driver was transported to an area hospital and treated for minor injuries. Impairment of the driver is not suspected.

The pedestrian (Jesse Morin, a 41-year-old Fallon resident) succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased on scene. Impairment of Morin is unknown.

This incident is being investigated by the Highway Patrol Division’s Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) - Case #220300593.
