Sō Percussion has redefined the scope and vital role of the modern percussion ensemble with innovative multi-genre original productions, sensational interpretations of modern classics, and an “exhilarating blend of precision and anarchy, rigor and bedlam,” (The New Yorker).
Sō’s repertoire ranges from “classics” of the 20th century, by John Cage, Steve Reich, and Iannis Xenakis to commissioning and advocating works by contemporary composers such as Caroline Shaw, David Lang, Steve Mackey and Paul Lansky.
They also compose and perform their own works, ranging from standard concert pieces to immersive multi-genre programs including Imaginary City, Where (we) Live and A Gun Show, which was presented in a multi-performance presentation as part of BAM’s 2016 Next Wave Festival. They’ve performed at venues around the world from London’s Barbican Center to Zankel Hall, Kimmel Center, Lincoln Center, and Brooklyn Academy of Music.
“Through a mix of consummate skill and quirky charm, this mercurial quartet has helped to ignite an explosive new enthusiasm for percussion music old and new.” – The New York Times

Comment text: We called the cops on this kid SEVERAL times when he was not even a teenager. The Churchill sheriff kept letting him off. I remember telling him that if he didn’t hold him accountable then, he’d wind up in prison. I was right
