Brigadier General Michael S. Peyerl, one of Fallon’s own, has been named the Nevada Guard’s newest general. As the new Brigadier General of the Civil-Military Operations Section, Peyerl will be primarily concerned with the domestic side of the Nevada Air and Army National Guard, dealing with the care and training of the men under his command, reporting directly to Major General Ondra Bery, Nevada’s Adjutant General.

At the general’s promotion ceremony, Mayor Tedford stated, “We are pleased to have him serve as the Guard’s new Brigadier General and know that he will make Fallon proud as he leads in this position.”

After graduating from Churchill County High School in 1991, Peyerl graduated from the University of Nevada, as a Distinguished Military Graduate. It was noted in the ceremony’s program, that Peyerl is among three other generals that have hailed from our town, calling Fallon the “The Birthplace of Generals.”

One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
