On the afternoon of February 11th, a 911 call was received at the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office advising of a helicopter crash at the Fallon Municipal Airport. While personnel from the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office, Fallon/Churchill Fire Department, and Banner EMS were responding to the airport updated information was received indicating that the pilot of the downed helicopter appeared okay as he was out of the wreckage and standing on the roof of a hangar.
Upon arrival, by responding to emergency units it was found that the helicopter had crashed onto the top of a hangar shortly after takeoff. The pilot was checked on by responding emergency medical staff and released on the scene. NTSB and FAA were notified and will be conducting further investigation into the events that led up to the Helicopter crashing into nearby hangars.
We would like to once again thank the Fallon/Churchill Fire Department and Banner EMS for their quick response, it is great having partners like you to help keep our community safe.
