Obituary -- Martin (Marty) Maffi
Martin Maffi

Martin J. Maffi passed away at Banner Churchill Hospital in Fallon on November 29, 2021. He was born on August 7, 1949, in Reno, Nevada to parents, Stephen and Marylou Maffi. The Fallon Native graduated from Churchill County High School in 1967, whereupon he attended UNR for a brief period of time before joining the workforce.

In 1975 he met the love of his life, Linda Bales, and they were married on February 25, 1976. They shared an amazing 34 years of marriage and had two children.

Marty worked at Kennametal for 39 years where he made lifelong friendships. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus council 2848 as a 4th Degree Knight. Marty was a devoted family man, husband, father, and grandfather, as they were the joy of his life. He enjoyed numerous outdoor activities, riding his horse, camping, golfing, and fishing. He even used to run the chains at the high school football games. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his younger sisters, Arlyn Maffi, Connie Maffi, and Lynn (Dave) Maffi (Strasdin). His children Brandy Maffi (granddaughter Aalana Foreman and great-granddaughter Cria Foreman), Matt (Kari) Maffi (grandchildren Samantha and Stephen Maffi).

Marty was preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Marylou Maffi, wife Linda Maffi, and granddaughter Becca Lyn Maffi.

A recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, at 7 p.m. at The Gardens Chapel. A Mass of the Resurrection will be on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  A potluck will follow at St. Patrick’s Hall.

The family wishes in lieu of flowers that donations be made to The Special Olympics.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Gardens Funeral Home, 2949 Austin Hwy, Fallon, NV 89406 775-423-8928.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
