Kings of Leon’s newest album release, When You See Yourself, is a move into alternative sounds for the group. While Kings of Leon could be argued to have always fallen under the “alternative” genre in your music lists, they are commonly known for a folk music inspiration. Similar to that of Mumford and Sons, Kings of Leon always can be trusted for a good ballad or love song. The newest album contains an interesting addition of synth and electronic changes to the usual folk sound. With the newest tracks, I would compare Kings of Leon to bands like LCD Soundsystem or Young the Giant. The turn to sad pop-synth alternative music made the newest album interesting and worth a listen.
