COVID Vaccines Available to Additional Groups on Feb. 10 and 11
Previous testing event at the county fairgrounds.

Churchill County will administer COVID vaccines to these groups on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 10 and 11 at the county fairgrounds, via Hwy 95A to Miners Road entrance.

First Doses

Feb. 10 and 11 at 2 p.m. drive-in, no appointments needed:

Continuing to serve:

  • Ages 65+
  • Ages 70+
  • Department of Corrections employees, law enforcement/public safety employees, local emergency operators, education and childcare employees, and Nevada System of Higher Education frontline educators, staff, and students
  • Community support frontline staff including those working to serve vulnerable populations with food service, shelter services, court/legal and social services; essential public transportation workers, state and local government officials and staff, essential public health workforce, and mortuary services

Employees of any of the groups listed must be employed in Churchill County and bring proof of employment such as a recent paystub or employer-issued identification to receive the vaccine. Residents should bring proof of age and residency (like a current driver’s license).

To expedite your vaccination process, please print and fill out the “COVID-19 Questionnaire” and “Pre-Vaccination Checklist” forms on the county’s website and bring them with you to the fairgrounds.

Second Doses ONLY

Feb. 10 and 11 from 1-2 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Churchill County will always maintain the supply to ensure everyone will receive their 2nd dose.

Please refer to your vaccination card to see when you are eligible for your second vaccine dose.

All persons using the fairgrounds for their vaccine should arrive via Miners Road from Highway 95 south. Sheckler entrances to the fairgrounds will be closed and anyone blocking state highways (including Sheckler) will be cited by law enforcement.

Banner Churchill Community Hospital

Banner currently is only offering vaccines for those 70 and older for appointments already confirmed and 2nd doses for those that have already received their vaccine at this location. Call (775)867-7740 to make a 2nd dose vaccine appointment with Banner. Banner will not be serving new vaccine patients as of Feb. 9.

Walgreens

Walgreens offers the vaccine to those 70+ via appointments through their online portal: https://www.walgreens.com/findcare/vaccination/covid-19. You will need an email and to create an account to schedule your vaccine at Walgreens.

CART - Churchill Area Regional Transportation

CART is available to take eligible vaccine populations who don’t have a ride to the fairgrounds to receive their COVID vaccine. Masks are required when riding the CART bus. CART can provide free rides for up to 12 people each vaccination date.

To arrange for a ride to the fairgrounds, call CART at (775)428-2988 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. This service will continue each week during vaccination dates at the fairgrounds until further notice.

Medicaid Recipients Needing Transportation

Medicaid recipients needing a ride to the fairgrounds for the vaccine should contact Medicaid for an expedited request. Medicaid is waiving the five-day ride request requirement for those seeking the vaccine.

As vaccines continue to roll out, Churchill County will work as efficiently as possible to administer these vaccines over the coming weeks. Additional vaccine dates and information will be provided on the county’s website when available.

The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses.
