Logos Academy Challenges Students with Fun Competitions

The first annual Spelling Bee for Grades K-8 was held on Thursday, January 14th at Logos Christian Academy. Students had an opportunity to sharpen their spelling skills during a practice run the day before. Each classroom held their own spelling bee in grades 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with winners chosen for each grade level.      

In-house Logos Math Olympics will take place on January 26th and 27th for Grades 3rd-8th.  Students will be tested in two areas of math - computation and math reasoning. Students who place 1st, 2nd, 3rd for each grade level will go on to compete in a regional Math Olympics competition in March.   
Coming February 26th, is the Logos Science Fair. Students in all grade levels will participate in this event, either as a class for PK-2nd or individually for 3rd-8th.     

A Logos Speech Meet will be coming March 28th & 29th for grades K-8. Students will receive packets to prepare for the meet several weeks prior to the event. Be watching for more information being sent home soon!

February 16 – No School – Teacher Professional Development Day   
February 19 – Awards Chapel @ 8:15 am (Honor Roll, Spelling Bee, Math Olympics)

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing.
