If You're Behind the Wheel, It's Against the Law

If You're Behind the Wheel, It's Against the Law

Use of any Handheld Electronic Device While Driving is Illegal in Nevada
Between January 15 and January 25, 2021, Nevada’s law enforcement agencies throughout the state will be Joining Forces and citing distracted drivers.

Nevada law clearly states that any use of a handheld electronic device—cell phone, mp3 player, GPS device, etc. — while driving is illegal. Nevada’s ban on handheld devices while driving went into effect January 1, 2012, and still, law enforcement continues to spot and cite offenders every day. The Governor’s Highway Safety Association provides the following tips to help limit driving distractions and increase safety:

  • Turn it off. Turn your phone off or switch to silent mode before you get in the car.
  • Spread the word. Set up a special message to tell callers that you are driving and you’ll get back to them as soon as possible.
  • If you need to make a call, find a legal and safe place to pull over and park first
  • Use your passengers. Ask a passenger to make the call for you.
  • Prepare. Review maps and directions before you start to drive. If you need help when you are on the road, pull over to a safe location to review the directions again.
  • Focus on the task at hand. Refrain from smoking, eating, drinking, reading and any other activity that takes your mind and eyes off the road.

Taking your eyes off the road for even one second can change your life or someone else’s life forever. The Nevada Highway Patrol urges you to be a safe, distraction-free driver.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
