Obituary -- Kristen June Gottschalk
Kristen June Gottschalk

Kristen June Gottschalk, 37, of Fallon, NV, passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2021. By her side were her loving family and close friends.

Kristen was born April 11, 1983, in Boulder, CO. She graduated from Lakewood High School in 2001 and was a 2005 graduate of Johnson and Wales University in Denver, Colorado, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in International Business. During her time at Johnson and Wales, she started her 11-year career at Costco Wholesale, where she swiftly moved up in various roles, all the while maintaining close relationships with her family and friends. She was also very active in various youth groups, where she was a mentor.

After college, Kristen remained at Costco, where she enjoyed senior management positions at various locations. In 2010 she took the solemn-yet-unwritten oath of office as a military spouse. She dedicated the rest of her life to serving her country, especially the communities of Virginia Beach, VA, and Fallon, NV.

She was a fantastic mother to her two children whom she loved immensely, an incredibly proud and dedicated wife, a loving daughter, a treasured sister, and a sincere friend to many. Her life was devoted to living in a way that reflected Christ in all she did. Her humble and gentle way, complemented by her kindness and compassion for others, extended to all people whom she met. She left a remarkable impression on all who came into contact with her.  Kristen was a living example of grace.

Kristen was preceded in death by grandparents, Jack and June Powell, and Natileen Martensen, Ray and Gloralie Martensen, and her sweet “Ant” Patti.

Kristen is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Matt Gottschalk; children, Jordan (4) and Kaisley (2); parents, Gary Powell of Idaho Falls, ID and Sharon Powell of Pensacola, FL; sister, Sarah Lynch; along with numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, a nephew, dear friends, and military family across the country and around the world.

The family will hold a celebration of Kristen’s life on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021 at Grace Bible Church in Fallon, NV. In lieu of flowers, Kristen and Matt encourage you to give to the local church you attend in her honor, or donate to “Folds of Honor”. (https://foldsofhonor.org)

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
