James Gilbert Monsour, age 73, passed away on December 20, 2020, at Saint Mary’s Medical Center in Reno, NV. James (Jim) Monsour was born in Detroit, MI on April 25, 1947, to Peter and Marguerite Monsour. Jim and his family relocated to California as a child. After high school and some college, Jim met his wife Vernell. They lived in southern California where he was a truck driver. He and Vernell raised a family there until 1990. At that time, he and his family moved to Fallon, Nevada.
Jim was a man of faith and loved God with his whole heart. He loved nature and wildlife. His favorite place to be was the mountains. He loved watching the animals up there and he felt a sense of being close to God. He also loved working out and took pride in his health and wellness. Jim loved providing for his family and was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and cousin to all of us.
Jim is survived by his wife, Vernell Monsour and their three children, Jason, Sarah, and Rebekah. He is also survived by siblings, Trudy Monsour and Nicholas Monsour; grandchildren, Morgan, Kyle, Dayne, Ethan, Sophia and Owen; nephews, Nathaniel, Robert and Peter, as well as many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Monsour and Marguerite Monsour, daughter, Anne Marie Monsour, and niece Aimee Longino.
Funeral services are being held Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. Smith Family Funeral Home, 505 Rio Vista Dr. in Fallon, NV with interment to follow at the Fallon cemetery.
