School Board Honors CCHS Wrestlers

School Board Honors CCHS Wrestlers
State of Nevada NIAA 3A State Champions — Team Takes 4th Place The Churchill County School District recently honored the state champion wrestlers at their board meeting.  Trustees Amber Getto and Trisha Strasdin presented the awards to Ben Dooley who wrestled in the 285 class, winning the 3A regional and state honors; Tommy McCormick who wrestled the 152 weight and took both the regional and state titles; and Sean McCormick, wrestling the 170 class, winning both the regional and state honors. As a team the wrestlers took 4th place behind Spring Creek, 1st with 236 points; Virgin Valley, 2nd with 83 points; Boulder City, 3rd with 77 points; and Churchill, 4th with 69 points. Sean McCormick is a senior, and this title makes the fourth time he has won the state title.  This is the first time in the history of the school that an athlete has won four consecutive state titles. After the presentation by board members, coach Dan Shaw gave remarks and thanked the school district, the City of Fallon for their police escort of the boys as they returned home the night of their win, and the community for their support of the student athletes. I honestly can’t believe you are gone…..you were a wonderful human being, with a HUGE heart and soul. Hearing this makes my heart break! You are forever in our hearts, and I can say I feel blessed that I was able to know you! Who and what they REALLY were. Because they were devotional and IMPORTANT to the humans they connected with. The content of their life bled so that others could feel their own life’s importance. Teachers of justifiable life and art. That all can absorb and use as the best fertilizer for THEIR lives. Giving the silent secrets and the loud guidance. The Melon Man was a perfect specimen for how to devote. His passing meant a life book of feeling/knowing what gives other humans their paths to Love and Knowledge. Some humans are meant to show others their paths. And in that they secrete ways to profitably exist.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 4:50 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon Man
