The Fallon Maine Street Program (formerly Downtown Merchants Association) Board of Directors will hold a meeting today, November 9th at 5:30 p.m. at the CEDA Board Room, 448 W. Williams Avenue.
Members will decide whether or not to dissolve the organization or keep it going, and if it is decided to keep going, elect their officers.
Recently, the organization made the difficult decision to cancel one of their hallmark events, the Maine Street Spooktacular held annually on Halloween. By the time they had gotten approval from the City of Fallon for the event, they did not have enough members who were able to volunteer their time to make the event happen.
President-elect of the organization, Lisa Gonzales, asked members “to take into consideration that by dissolving the FMSP it will leave a huge void when it comes to the 4th of July Parade and the Spooktacular, as well as other volunteer opportunities in the community. “I encourage non-board members to respond with your thoughts and ideas,” she said.
In addition, the Maine Street Program is heavily involved in Shop Small Saturday, scheduled this year for November 28th, as well as the Home Means Fallon Fundraiser.
Gonzales can be reached at 775-423-8587 or [email protected].
