His Inspirations -- Celebrating ten years in business

His Inspirations -- Celebrating ten years in business
Kari Ernst and Wende Hook

Life-long resident, Wende Hook, attended high school in Fallon, received her degree in education, returned to Fallon to teach for the district, and then opened her own business here. Her local business, His Inspiration, celebrates 10 years of community support this month.

Wende first opened His Inspiration on November 23, 2010 in the Cobblestone Shopping Center on Center Street. She had experienced a tragic family accident in 2009 that resulted in her taking a year’s leave of absence from her teaching job with Churchill County School District, where she had spent 12 years. In October of 2010,  a close friend, Carrie Ernst, came to Wende and suggested that they open a bookstore that would honor God. The two friends spent hours talking and praying about the idea. Wende recalled, “God just flew open doors and on November 23, 2010, we opened.”

Wende acknowledges the many blessing that have come her way with the business. In July of 2012, the business moved to their current location at 200 S. Maine St. where they continue to grow. Support has come from local churches that purchase many of their various supplies, and from what she calls, “a wonderful community.”

Though COVID-19 has affected the business, Wende was fortunate to be able to continue with online shopping from March through May and received a Payroll Protection Plan loan that has allowed her to keep her employees earning some kind of income. She believes the blessings come with trust in God and His Devine Plan, having perseverance, and just keep on keeping on.

On their celebration day this year, November 23rd, there will be cake and drinks available for customers and a 25% discount will be offered on items in the shop.

Wende will be offering shopping by appointment this holiday season. For customers who are not comfortable going out on the big sale days and do not want to be exposed to bigger crowds, there will be times available before and after regular business hours to book private times to shop. Groups are limited to no more than five people. Anyone interested in booking a shopping time, can call the shop at 775-423-0622.

His Inspiration will be closed on Black Friday as Wende will be preparing for Small Business Saturday. There will be times to book private shopping times on Black Friday. At this time, Wende has not decided on what all the specialties for that great shopping day will be. But, you can count on some great deals, friendly service, and a warm and welcoming environment from this business.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
