Testing data released today by Churchill County is showing a third death and six active COVID cases in the community as of today, September 9th. There are no people currently hospitalized, and 108 people have recovered from the virus, out of a total of 117 positive cases since March.

There have been a total of 5,886 people tested in Churchill County for the virus. Of the 117 positive cases, 45 of those have been asymptomatic postives.

Members of the Churchill County community are urges to take part in the community wide testing that is done on Tuesday afternoons at the Churchill County Fairgrounds. Testing numbers are used to meet Governor Sisolak's requirements to keep the community open; one of the meausrements used by the COVID taskforce is the percentage of the population that tests positive. Each test that comes back negative helps lower the postitivity rate.

Anone wishing to take part in community testing, or is exhibiting symptoms of COVID should call to make an appointment. The line will go to voice mail, but a member of the staff will call back with instructions and an appointment time. 775-423-6695, option 2.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
