New positive COVID case identified in Churchill County resident

Churchill County has one new positive case of COVID in a resident. This newest case, a woman in her 40s, is currently the only active positive case in the county. Of the previous active cases, nine have recovered and one died. Since March, there have been 11 total positives identified in county residents.

The county tracks local numbers in an easy-to-read graphic on its website at: https://bit.ly/3dHXGIY

Since the Governor issued a mandatory face covering policy for public spaces last week, we ask that those attending the July 4th parade on Saturday to please wear a face covering and maintain social distancing along the parade route.

The CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings when around people outside of their household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. Cloth face coverings should NOT be worn by young children (under the age of 9, per Gov. Sisolak) or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
