This collection of stories details the interior life of men, late in life, contemplating their particular circumstances. My favorite is The Run of Yourself; the story of a man coming to terms with his wife’s suicide and his daughter’s anger and unhappiness. He considers his situation and wonders if all the things he thought were true really are. A chance meeting with a younger woman gives him the smallest glimmer of hope and direction. This concise and sharp collection is well worth the time.
