Single Lane Closures on Alternate U.S. 50 in Silver Springs
For those Fallonites traveling Highway 50, a Nevada Department of Transportation press release today announced Single lane closures will take place this week on Alternate U.S. 50 in Silver Springs as part of Nevada Department of Transportation highway improvements.
Alternate U.S. 50 (also known as Alternate U.S. 95) just north of the U.S. 50 intersection in Silver Springs will be reduced to a single lane Jan. 23-25 between 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Drivers should expect minor travel delays as traffic flaggers direct vehicle traffic through the single lane closure. Motorists will continue to see brief, intermittent single lane closures on Alternate U.S. 50 in the coming months.
The Alternate U.S. 50 truck climbing lane just north of the U.S. 50 junction is being lengthened as part of an NDOT project to improve the U.S. 50 intersection and widen U.S. 50 from a two-lane to a four-lane divided highway between Silver Springs and Roys Road in Stagecoach. The nearly ten miles of highway to be widened is traveled by approximately 6,000 drivers daily. A traffic roundabout will replace the existing flashing traffic signal at the U.S. 50 and Alternate U.S. 50 junction in Silver Springs. The concrete roundabout will make intersection travel safer and quicker, with free right turns between U.S. 50 and southern Alternate U.S. 95.
