Editor:

I am proud of the residents of Fallon and Churchill County who have taken the time to complete the census.  Churchill County has the highest response rate of all Nevada counties and the City of Fallon ranks number one for Nevada cities. That is great, but there is still more work to be done!

The census, which is required by the United States Constitution, will determine representation and funding for our community for the next ten years. It is vital that everyone is counted. It does not take much time and it is easy to do.  You can use your home computer or smart phone and log onto census.nv.gov.  Just follow the prompts and it should take you five to ten minutes to complete. If you do not have internet access, you can call 844-330-2020, or you can mail in the questionnaire.

Each person who is counted will mean $20,000 for Nevada. This money will be used to provide services for education, transportation, healthcare, and so much more. These are services that so many of us and our neighbors count on. Some examples include CART buses, career and technical education, childcare, and meals for senior citizens and kids, just to name a few.

Do your census now and a federal census taker will not visit your place of residence in the summer. As of now, the United States Census Bureau has delayed their field operations until June 1st and will begin non-response follow up in August.

The census is important, safe and easy.  If you have not already done so, please complete it. Nevada matters. Be counted!

Sincerely,

Kelly Frost

From the editor: This is a very good question and we apologize for not catching that wasn't in there. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITORComment author: Debra J RidenourComment text: So sorry for your loss.
