Oasis Academy Working to Fill the Need for Gowns at the Hospital

Oasis Academy Working to Fill the Need for Gowns at the Hospital

Oasis Academy, in conjunction with Friends of Oasis Academy, is working to put together kits and supplies to make PPE equipment for healthcare workers and hospital staff; specifically, face masks and hospital gowns. Hospital employees and health care providers have indicated to us that there is a huge need for these items.

Friends of Oasis Academy hired Bits and Pieces to make 650 masks. In addition, volunteers are putting together kits to make approximately 600 additional masks. Once those kits are assembled they will put a call out to the seamstresses of the community to sew the masks. They are also collecting unwanted sheets (fitted and flat) at the school, which will be used by volunteers to sew gowns. Donations can be left at the school located at 920 W. Williams, Avenue.

Holiday Inn made a large donations of linens as did individual families.

We are ready to have people pick up the linen and start sewing gowns. If you are able to sew gowns please email mmackedon@oanv,org for instructions.

If you want to help they ask that you check their Facebook page daily and/or the website justserve.org. You do NOT have to have a FB account to view the public page, located here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/OAfallon/posts/?ref=page_internal

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
