County Offers Clarification on Non-Essential Business Closures, Public Gatherings

Statement from Churchill County — Anne McMillin, Public Information Officer We are in unprecedented times as we come to terms the COVID-19 virus and our efforts to protect our collective, community health. To that end, we want to provide some local clarification on state-mandated orders that have come out in the last few days and to end by asking for your help. Non-Essential Business Closures Churchill County wishes to express its appreciation to all the business owners in our community who are making necessary adjustments to the way they do business in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We recognize the sacrifice that is being made by many to comply with the Governor’s directive for the closure of non-essential businesses. Please know that we are here to assist where we can. There are many businesses that hold both a City of Fallon and Churchill County business license. Churchill County and the City of Fallon are working closely together in order to remain consistent in how we educate and enforce the Governor’s directive on business closures. Churchill County business license holders who have questions or concerns about how to comply with the Governor’s directive are encouraged to call the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office (775) 423-3116 or the Churchill County District Attorney’s Office (775) 423-6561. If a business holds a license with both the City and the County, they are free to call either entity for direction. The City’s number (775) 423-5104. Our goal is to first educate and assist businesses in complying before taking any such action. Businesses holding a Churchill County business license that refuse to comply with the Governor’s directive may be subject to enforcement measures taken by the county that may include business liquor license suspension or revocation. Public Gatherings On March 24, Governor Sisolak released Directive 007 prohibiting the gathering of 10 or more persons in any indoor or outdoor area.  This directive applies to both public and private property where the public has access by right or invitation. We encourage the public to review this order and take every effort to comply. Supplies for Our Hospital This community is very generous in times of need and once again, we are asking for your help to keep Banner Churchill Community Hospital ahead of the need for personal protective equipment, or PPE. Would you please review your cabinets and closets and consider donating? Listed items are most needed: •N95 masks and regular hospital masks •Surgical gloves •Hospital gowns and scrubs •Goggles and face shields These items may be dropped off at Churchill County Social Services, 485 W. B Street in the County Administration Building Annex Building Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. or by calling (775) 427-0035 to arrange. COVID-19 Resources and Updates Please also check the county’s COVID-19 webpage for additional updates on actions we are taking to protect the community’s health. The Nevada State Health Response website may also provide additional information you will find useful. We are all in this together and navigating uncharted ground and a new reality. Thank you for your patience, support and donations as we move forward.         We need your support now more than ever — as our small business comunity is hit, so is our advertising support — if you are able to support local, independent news, now is the time to click here to contribute to The Fallon Post, so we can continue to bring you up-to-the-minute information. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
