Local Democrats to meet Feb. 13th
Submitted by Jeanette Strong -- Churchill County Democrats met on January 9 to hear more about planning and training for the 2020 Nevada Democratic Presidential Caucus. Volunteers are still needed to help with early voting, Feb. 15-18 at the Old Post Office, and the caucus itself on Feb. 22.  Anyone interested in volunteering to help can go to https://nvdems.com/2020-caucus for more information. A mock presidential caucus will be held on Jan. 25 at the Churchill County Public Library Annex at 10 a.m. Registered Democrats who would like to learn more about the process are welcome. Nick Lal of the Pete Buttigieg campaign spoke about the work he is doing in the area. He is contacting voters from Churchill, Lyon, Pershing, Storey and Mineral counties. The local Buttigieg campaign headquarters are in the old Fallon Food Hub facilities on Center Street. Anyone interested in helping is encouraged to contact Lal. The annual Sawyer-Bryan fund-raising dinner will be held on May 16 at the Fallon Convention Center. A planning committee is being formed. Anyone interested in being part of the committee can call 867-4229. The next regular monthly meeting of the Churchill County Democrats will be on February 13, at the county admin building, 155 N. Taylor at 6pm, just before early voting.       Support local, independent news – contribute to The Fallon Post, your non-profit (501c3) online news source for all things Fallon. Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
