A huge thank you to everyone in our wonderful community for your overwhelming support of the Maine Street Spooktacular! We had such a blast celebrating Halloween with all of you, and we hope everyone had a safe, fun, and memorable weekend filled with amazing costumes and sweet treats. As we turn the calendar and kick off November, there is still so much to look forward to at your favorite historic theater. Grab a big tub of fresh-buttered popcorn and join us for two fantastic featured films next weekend, both generously sponsored by the City of Fallon.
At 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7, join us for Disney's musical fantasy adventure classic, “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” (1971). Set during World War II, three young English children are evacuated to a quiet seaside village to live with Miss Eglantine Price, an apprentice witch. Together with an eccentric professor, they embark on a magical quest aboard a flying bed to find a missing spell that could help defend Britain. Filled with charming songs and delightful live-action and animation combos, it's a nostalgic treat for all ages. Rated G, it runs 1 hour and 57 minutes.
Or, at 7 p.m. both nights, step into the evening with Barry Levinson's acclaimed comedy-drama, “Good Morning, Vietnam” (1987). Robin Williams delivers an iconic, Oscar-nominated performance as Adrian Cronauer, an unconventional, fast-talking Armed Forces Radio DJ who arrives in Saigon in 1965 and instantly brings high energy, rock 'n' roll, and irreverent humor to the airwaves. Packed with a legendary soundtrack and Williams’ brilliant improvisational comedy, it remains one of the most memorable film experiences of the '80s. Rated R, it runs 2 hours and 1 minute.
Science fiction lovers, this one’s for you. We’re excited to introduce Sci-Fi Second Feature, a new monthly series taking place on the second Saturday of every month, hosted by a local community member. Since it screens right after our 6 p.m. movie, start times will fall between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. depending on the night's main feature. Join fellow sci-fi enthusiasts for an awesome night of genre favorites, starting this month with the legendary 1951 classic “The Day the Earth Stood Still” (rated G, 1 hour and 32 minutes). Join us down here on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 8:30 p.m. to connect with local fans, and enjoy a late-night trip to the movies.
This month’s Third Friday Matinee, sponsored by The Coalition for Senior Citizens, takes place on Friday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. We’ll be showing the hilarious 1980 workplace comedy classic, “9 to 5”. Starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton, this beloved hit follows three underappreciated office workers who decide to get even with their egotistical, hypocritical boss in a series of outrageous turned-real revenge fantasies. Everyone is welcome to attend, but all moviegoers aged 60 and older receive a free small popcorn and small soda at the concession stand. Rated PG, it runs 1 hour and 50 minutes.
And coming up in just a few short weeks, get ready for a night of pure laughter on Friday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. as Nashville stand-up comedian Lee Hardin (Dry Bar Comedy) brings his clean, family-friendly humor back to our stage. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased through his website at leehardin.com. Grab your tickets early so as not to miss out on this warm, hilarious evening.
